Since November 24th of 2022 the Acropolis of Athens has become accessible for visually impaired people. The combination of monuments’ models, haptic feedback points and signs in English and Greek Braille form a solid experience on this historic archaeological site.
The haptic course is formed by 12 stops and 4 information points and a tactile 3D model of the archaeological site of Acropolis. All these have Braille notation in Greek and English.
The Culture and Sports Minister Mrs. Mendoni during the inauguration stated “equal access to cultural goods is a goal, an objective and a bet for the ministry and its services.”
To conclude, guards on the site have also been adequately trained to assist visually impaired people with the available tools.
